The Selby 100 Mile House

A renowned historic Colonial estate on the Ohio River, now permanent home for the ACADA Grand Nationals events.

A Riverside Landmark

More than eleven acres above the Ohio.

The Selby 100 Mile House is an elegant Colonial-style mansion situated on more than eleven acres overlooking the Ohio River near Stout, Ohio, just outside Portsmouth. Located approximately one hundred miles from both Cincinnati, Ohio, and Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the property has stood as a landmark along the river since its construction in 1927.

The stone and brick residence was originally built for prominent Portsmouth businessman Charles D. Scudder as a private river estate. In 1937, the property was acquired by Roger A. Selby, president of the Selby Shoe Company and one of the most influential Arabian horse breeders in American history.

The Selby Legacy

Roger Selby and the Crabbet Arabian.

Roger Selby's breeding program helped shape the modern Arabian horse in the United States. Through an extensive relationship with Lady Wentworth of England's famed Crabbet Arabian Stud, Selby imported some of the most important Arabian bloodlines ever brought to America.

For nearly a century, the Selby 100 Mile House has welcomed distinguished guests, hosted memorable gatherings, and stood as a place where history, hospitality, and tradition intersect.

Just as Roger Selby's work helped establish excellence and lasting standards within the Arabian horse community, ACADA seeks to elevate, preserve, and advance the professional skills of those who dedicate their careers to the care, presentation, and well-being of animals.
